Exasperating expert

“That just exasperates the problem” -

Mount Royal University professor, interviewed on AM 770 CHQR, Calgary

This professor, whose name I’ll withhold, is one of those experts I referred to in my last post. He believes that mandatory minimum sentences “don’t work”. As I recall, his further arguments were the “excessive cost” aspect of the “limited resources” argument. I think he concluded with the “crime decreasing” finisher. No surprise there.

On his way to some very predictable reasoning, he managed to “exacerbate” his rhetorical difficulties by dropping the Stupidism quoted above. When he wrongly used “exasperate” he must have unconsciously perceived what many of us thought of his argument!
