Republicans behaved … like terrorists.” -

Various media and (reportedly) U.S. vice-president Joe Biden

The weekly exchanges between Bill O’Reilly and Bernard Goldberg are typically very entertaining.  It was no exception last night. The topic at hand was the escalation of rhetoric by the Left and their fellow travellers in the media regarding the debt ceiling hysteria.

O’Reilly noted that several pundits had referred to the Tea Party and its representatives in Congress as “terrorists”, that they were “strapping on explosives” to “blow up the nation/economy”. A White House spokesman today denied that VP Biden used the word terrorist.

Goldberg had the line of the night when he observed the irony in these commentators using the word “terrorist” and “Jihad” when they shy from using those words on actual terrorists! Once one pundit threw the “T-bomb” the other would follow “like birds on a wire”. Further, he and O’Reilly agreed that the Left’s previous attempt to discredit their opponents by using the term “racist” had failed. Hence the escalation to “terrorist”. Remarkable.

To uphold Canadian content, here’s a bonus, thematic Stupidism, care of our own federal NDP. It seems they responded today to criticism that their interim leader was, until very recently a card-carrying member of the Bloc Quebecois. In their own version of “smoked but didn’t inhale”, the party executive has stated that, although she was a member of a separatist party, she’s not a separatist. Glad they cleared that up.
