“The entire crew and passengers were rescued after the tall ship sunk” -

As per MrK’s last Stupidism, we don’t want to make humour of other people’s misfortune, but can’t help pointing out this fumble. It seems to epitomize common confusion around the time sequence of several similar words. Now I haven’t yet heard anything like “I drunk too much last night and got drank” but maybe that’s coming too.

You can’t help but hearken back to the simpler times of Dr. Seuss where (even with some artistic license)  he gives a nod to proper grammar. In the famous Grinch song he uses the following construction:

“The 3 words that best describe you, are as follows, and I quote

Stink, Stank, Stonk”.

How much of modern writing stonks, we’ll leave for you to judge.
