The seasons are changing and, along with the geese flying north, the ski journalists are flying east. Well, to quote an old Groucho Marx joke, “the Lord Alps those that Alps themselves”.

And MrK is Alping himself in a huge way this spring – to three weeks of all-expense paid skiing in the old country. Three old countries actually; Switzerland, Austria and Italy. The “usual operation”, a little physical exertion on the slopes followed by gourmet meals and a few “digestifs”, and all on the coin of resorts, is set up once more. Oh yes, there’s the small formality of writing a few thousand words about it. Helps to be a pro in that instance, leaves more time for “les digestifs”.

This leaves me with the task of filling the breach on this page. Readers can expect the usual “light” fare. We’ll begin with a clause-by-clause review of the treaties of Versailles and St. Germain. That done, it will be central European demographics of the 1930′s all day, everyday.

That will be interspersed with excerpts of Montreal Canadiens related blogs, in the run up to the play offs. Hold on to your hats!
